5 New Brunswick Based Businesses That You'll Love

Local. Local. Local. Excellence NB reports that more and more people are asking themselves ‘how can I support local?’. At one time, it might have been difficult to find NB made products and services but not anymore. There are so many NB based businesses to celebrate and support. Job creation, global recognition, and giving back to our communities—NB businesses are working hard to put our province ‘on the map’ and highlight our successes and entrepreneurial spirit.

Did you know that as NBers, a 5% shift towards buying local would mean thousands of new jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars towards our economy*? How incredible is that?

But this can only begin to happen if NB based businesses are top of mind—so here are five NB based business that I think you will love:

The NB Box

(From their ‘About’ page)

The NB Box started as a way of showcasing the abundance of high-quality goods available in our province. The NB Box is about supporting makers and creatives in our communities and having pride in the diverse and unique products they make. I want to discover everything we have to offer here, and share that with you!

Each box is carefully curated and filled with the best locally made New Brunswick products. Perfect for treating yourself or gifting to a loved one.

What they offer:

Gift boxes featuring products made by NB entrepreneurs. You have the option of curating your own products to build your own box or choosing from an already created box. The best part is, orders can be shipped internationally so you can share your love of NB with all of Canada and the US! Getting married? They also create custom wedding favours and out-of-town guest gift sets.

Follow them on Instagram, Facebook, or check out their website for more info.

Barbours

(From their ‘About’ page)

Barbours is big business! With production, testing, QA, R&D, and logistics capabilities on site, Barbour’s, based in Sussex, NB, employs many of our fellow NBers. It services retail businesses all across North America, and in 2017, Barbour’s celebrated 150 years in business!

Huddle

(From their ‘About’ page)

Huddle tells the stories of the creative, innovative and interesting entrepreneurs working in New Brunswick and throughout the Maritimes. These are stories that are not told often enough.

Huddle is more than a news site, it’s a gathering place for the community of people with hope and ambition who want to build a stronger economy.

At Huddle, our philosophy is simple: we believe that business is good.

Business creates jobs, opportunities and wealth, things we need more of here in our part of Canada. Business is creative, powerful and a force for positive social change.

Huddle’s sole purpose is to champion and highlight New Brunswick businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovation. You can support this important NB initiative by subscribing to Huddle’s email list (by signing up on their website) or you can follow them on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to stay up-to-date on all business information in Atlantic Canada.

The Atlantic Ballet of Canada

Rescue Coffee Co.

(From their ‘About’ page)

Sip a cup, save a pup! Rescue Coffee Co. founder Claire Vaughan says:

I have always wanted to own my own business, but it was really important to me that it gave back and supported the local communities around it. Rescue Coffee Co. does just that. We offer fair-trade organically grown coffee, roasted right in the Maritimes, and give 10% of proceeds to our partnering animal shelters. By making the choice to purchase Rescue Coffee, you're also making the choice to give farmers fair wages, support local businesses, and give a rescue animal a second chance at life.

You can purchase Rescue Coffee online or at various retail locations across the Maritimes. They have also recently launched a coffee subscription program. (Never get stuck without coffee in your cupboard again!)

Check out their website or follow them on Facebook and Instagram to learn more about where to find Rescue Coffee near you and to read more about how they give back.
